How it all began


Meet Brad and Meag

Squirrel Stash Nuts has grown out of the concerns that co-founders and hometown sweethearts Brad and Meag had over the lack of delicious, wholesome snacks available to vegans as well as the overuse of wasteful plastic packaging on store shelves.

Together in their Burlington, Vermont home, they created a recipe for a roasted and maple cinnamon glazed nut that is a Vermont twist on a traditional German Bavarian candied nut. By reducing the amount of sweetness and opting for maple syrup over refined sugar, their recipe highlights the individual texture and flavor of the nuts and seeds while bringing the decadent taste and nutrients of Vermont maple syrup.

Brad and Meag's love for food and sustainable living, paired with their creativity, has led them to offer a unique variety of wholesome, roasted and maple cinnamon glazed nuts and seeds including their Classic Maple glaze on almonds, cashews, pecans, and organic pumpkin seeds. They have created flavors for the adventurous Stashers with  Chipotle Spiced (Sweet Heat) pecans, Craft Beer roasted (Buzzed) cashews, and Turmeric Ginger Chai cashews. To add a cherry on top, all of that dynamic flavor comes from a handful of quality, plant-based ingredients roasted together in small batches. 

Squirrel Stash has worked with local brewers to develop a glaze that is unique to every beer that is used. The results are always a one-of-a-kind roasted and maple cinnamon glazed snack. A recent collaboration with Berkshire Brewing Company has led to a fan favorite in the Squirrel Stash lineup, a craft beer roasted cashew made with BBC’s famous Steel Rail Ale and appropriately named Buzzed Cashews.


Squirrel Stash Nuts and Seeds are more than just delicious protein-packed snacks. They are a piece of the revolution towards conscious, sustainable business practices and more love for our Earth.


From their beginnings in 2013, Brad and Meag wanted to be an example of an Earth conscious company. This is why they chose to use sustainable and renewable packaging. They started with Stashes of nuts in hand-packed paper cones for the Burlington Vermont Farmer's Market and have now grown to having a modern and playful stand-up package that is made from certified home compostable materials and inks and is available at select Whole Foods locations.


Squirrel Stash's sustainability  is ingrained in everything we do and it begins long before the product makes it into the compostable bags! Each batch of nuts are roasted in Western Massachusetts using renewable energy. These conscious choices lead to a relationship with 1% For The Planet where a portion of sales are donated to an environmental cause.
