How it all began

Meet Brad and Meag

Squirrel Stash Nuts has grown out of the concerns that co-founders and hometown sweethearts Brad and Meag had over the lack of delicious, wholesome snacks available to vegans; as well as the over use of wasteful plastic packaging on store shelves.

Together, in their Burlington Vermont home, they created a recipe for a roasted and maple cinnamon glazed nut that is a Vermont twist on a traditional German Bavarian candied nut. By reducing the amount of sweetness and opting for maple syrup over refined sugar, their recipe highlights the individual texture and flavor of the nuts and seeds while bringing the decadent taste and nutrients of Vermont maple.


From their beginning in 2013, Brad and Meag wanted to be an example of an Earth conscious company which explains their choice to use sustainable and renewable packaging. Starting with Stashes of nuts in hand packed paper cones for the Burlington Vermont Farmer's Market to years later with a modern and playful stand-up package that is made from certified home compostable materials and inks.


Before the product even makes it to the compostable packaging it is roasted using renewable energy in Western Massachusetts. These conscious choices lead to a relationship with 1% For The Planet where a portion of sales are donated to an environmental cause.

The founders love for food, creativity, and sustainable living has led them to offer a unique variety of wholesome, roasted and maple cinnamon glazed nuts and seeds including their Classic Maple glaze on almonds-cashews-pecans and organic pumpkin seeds; Chipotle Spiced pecans, Craft Beer roasted cashews, and Turmeric Ginger Chai cashews. And all that dynamic flavor from a handful of quality, plant based ingredients roasted in small batches. 


To create a one of a kind craft beer roasted and maple cinnamon glaze, Squirrel Stash works with various brewers to create a glazed nut that is unique to the beer it is roasted with.  A collaboration with Berkshire Brewing Company has led to a fan favorite in the Squirrel Stash lineup, a craft beer roasted cashew made with BBC’s famous Steel Rail Ale.


Squirrel Stash Nuts and Seeds are more than just delicious protein packed snacks, it's a peace of the revolution towards conscious business practices and more love for our Earth.
